He tells Zedekiah not to listen to the preaching and teachings of the lying prophets who are trying to tell them that there will be independence from Babylon. then he states that all the temple articles will be taken to Babylon and not brought back soon. He talks about a wooden yoke and has one present to help teach about the warnings.
The the prophet Hananiah comes into the picture. He preached the opposite of what Jeremiah is teaching. Hananiah breaks the yoke from Jeremiah to symbolize the submission to Babylon and even states that Judah will be sent home in 2 years. But God tells Jeremiah to get a iron Yoke for Hananiah and to tell the false prophet that he will die within the year. And guess what? He does!
